Things that have rocked my face off this past week beyond measure:
My Family. I am so damn proud of them. Wednesday night my little baby nephew quit breathing. My Momma, the grandma, had enough wits about her to call 911, and my brother, the dad, handled it like a champ and got the little guy going again until the EMTS arrived. The whole family worked together to get people where they needed to be, and even let me know what was going on. Baby Nephew, after scans and blood work, and a trip to NICU is home now diagnosed with sleep apnea and acid reflux. I am so fucking grateful he made it, beyond words grateful.
The Fixer. He heard me on the phone with my momma at 3 in the morning and stayed up with me talking about how scary almost loosing baby nephew was, and how my heart hurt I couldn’t be there to help. He gets me, understands my wants and needs to be with my family, but to still live here. (And he’s cute and funny, so that’s cool too)
The Cubs. Yep, they rock my face off. I don’t even care if they break my heart, or a thousand hearts, I have grown to love that damn team… and today I get to see them! My first baseball game ever, and it’s at Wrigley Field. I am so freaking excited and nervous and grateful to experience it. I never would have guessed two years ago that I would be where I am today, and it feels like a celebration to be able to do these things. There was a time when I couldn’t enjoy life, and today I get to thrive in it.
Working out. Yep. The actual working out part doesn’t really rock my face off, I don’t really enjoy it like I used to when I was a badass kickboxer, but I am learning again to take care of myself and to build endurance and muscle. Being able to say that I averaged 2 miles EVERY day this week rocks, add some strength training every other day to that and I feel pretty good about where I am headed.
And now for the short list:
Coffee (always), my friend EM coming to visit me all the way up here next week, music, walking and the ability to do so, Nico Harper (best dog EVER), food from our garden, pasta, friendships, mens razors, good deodorant, a home ( A HOME!!!!), a cell phone that works, unemployment, and of course Craughers, for always being there even when I don’t have the words to say that I do indeed NEED you.
